About this product

Advanced Ads Tracking 4.0.0 is the paid add-on that counts impressions and clicks for the ads you run with the free Advanced Ads plugin. It suits publishers who sell banner space directly and need numbers to show advertisers, and bloggers who want to see which AdSense or affiliate units actually earn. Instead of guessing from your ad network's totals, you get counts per ad inside WordPress, plus reports you can send to the people paying you.

What's in the Advanced Ads Tracking download

Our download is the original Advanced Ads Tracking ZIP for version 4.0.0, with the license key already activated. It is the add-on only: the free Advanced Ads core plugin comes from the WordPress plugin screen, and Cache Busting for cached sites is part of Advanced Ads Pro, a separate product. Selling Ads, which can bill advertisers per impression or click using these counts, is sold separately too. The rebuilt Analytics screens the developer released later are not in this version.

Good to know

The file header asks for WordPress 5.7 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer, and the free Advanced Ads plugin must be active. Counting starts the moment you activate the add-on, so older impressions and clicks are never filled in. If your site uses page caching, keep the default Frontend tracking method rather than Database. Switching to the Google Analytics method takes load off your server, but impression and click limits stop working with it. Stats follow the time zone under Settings, General.

How to install Advanced Ads Tracking

  1. Install and activate the free Advanced Ads plugin first under Plugins, Add New Plugin, because this tracking add-on only runs on top of that core plugin.
  2. Log in to GPLGuide, open this product and click Download under Your downloads.
  3. In WordPress, go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin and choose the Tracking ZIP exactly as you downloaded it.
  4. Click Install Now, wait for the upload to finish, then click Activate.
  5. Open Advanced Ads, Settings, Tracking to pick the tracking method and set up email reports; your numbers appear under Advanced Ads, Statistics.

Features & capabilities

  • Counts impressions and clicks per ad, manual AdSense and Amazon units included, and works out the click rate.
  • Frontend, Database or Google Analytics tracking, with local and Analytics counting able to run side by side.
  • Statistics by day, week or month for every ad in your WordPress admin.
  • Daily, weekly or monthly email reports for all ads, or a separate report for one ad.
  • A public, non-indexed stats page per ad that you can hand to the advertiser.
  • Cloaked ad links under a link base you choose, plus nofollow or sponsored on ad links.
  • Caps an ad at a set number of impressions or clicks and spreads them up to its expiry date.
  • Leaves chosen user roles out of the counts and exports your stats as a CSV file.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the original file?

Yes. Every product on GPLGuide is the developer’s own release, unchanged. The license key comes already activated. If a product does ask for a key, the activation steps appear on its page once you have it.

Is it legal to use a GPL plugin or theme from GPLGuide?

Yes. WordPress plugins and themes are released under the GPL, which lets anyone use, share and change the code. The developer’s support desk and the developer’s own update service are not part of the file; those stay with the developer.

How do I install it?

Log in, open the product page and click Download under Your downloads. For a plugin go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, then Install Now and Activate. For a theme go to Appearance, Themes, Add New Theme, Upload Theme.

How do updates work?

When a newer version is listed on GPLGuide, download it from the product page and upload it over the installed copy; WordPress offers to replace the old version. Updates are manual.

Can I use it on more than one site?

Yes. The GPL lets you use it on as many of your own sites as you like.

What if the file does not work or a newer version is out?

Tell us on the Request Item page or through Support. We check the file and add the newer version when we have it.
