About this product
Advanced Ads PopUp and Layer Ads 2.0.2 is an add-on for the free Advanced Ads plugin that shows an ad, or any other content, in a layer above the page instead of inside it. It suits blogs, magazines and content sites that want an interstitial offer, a newsletter sign-up box or an urgent notice to appear at a chosen moment rather than sit in the sidebar. It works as a placement type, so the popup uses the ads, groups and conditions you already manage in Advanced Ads.
What's in the Advanced Ads PopUp and Layer Ads download
Our download is the original Advanced Ads PopUp and Layer Ads ZIP for version 2.0.2, with the license key already activated. It contains this add-on only. The free Advanced Ads plugin is installed separately from the WordPress plugin screen, and Advanced Ads Pro, Sticky Ads, Tracking and the other paid add-ons are separate products that are not in this file.
Good to know
The file needs WordPress 5.7 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer, and its header names the free Advanced Ads plugin as a required plugin. Ask your ad network before you put its ads in a layer: the developer warns that AdSense may treat a popup as a policy breach. Limiting how often one visitor sees the popup uses the Max. ad impressions visitor condition, which comes with Advanced Ads Pro, not with this add-on. Run one layer placement per page and keep others away with conditions.
How to install Advanced Ads PopUp and Layer Ads
- Install and activate the free Advanced Ads plugin under Plugins, Add New Plugin, because the popup add-on needs this core ad plugin first.
- Log in to GPLGuide, open this product and click Download under Your downloads.
- Go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin and choose the PopUp and Layer Ads ZIP from your computer.
- Click Install Now, then Activate the add-on on the Plugins screen.
- Open Advanced Ads, Placements, create a new placement, pick the PopUp and Layer Ads type and assign the ad or group to show.
- Set the trigger, position, effect and close button in that placement's options, then save it.
Features & capabilities
- Six triggers: on page load, when scrolling stops, at half the page, after a set pixel distance, on exit intent or after a set number of seconds.
- Nine screen positions, with center as the default.
- An optional background overlay that disappears when the popup closes.
- Show, fade or slide effects, each with an optional delay.
- A close button with a timeout in days; 0 hides a closed popup for the current session only.
- Auto close hides the layer after the time you set.
- Works for content that is not an ad too, such as a sign-up form or an important notice.
- An optional Fancybox display mode in the general settings, switched off by default.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the original file?
Yes. Every product on GPLGuide is the developer’s own release, unchanged. The license key comes already activated. If a product does ask for a key, the activation steps appear on its page once you have it.
Is it legal to use a GPL plugin or theme from GPLGuide?
Yes. WordPress plugins and themes are released under the GPL, which lets anyone use, share and change the code. The developer’s support desk and the developer’s own update service are not part of the file; those stay with the developer.
How do I install it?
Log in, open the product page and click Download under Your downloads. For a plugin go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, then Install Now and Activate. For a theme go to Appearance, Themes, Add New Theme, Upload Theme.
How do updates work?
When a newer version is listed on GPLGuide, download it from the product page and upload it over the installed copy; WordPress offers to replace the old version. Updates are manual.
Can I use it on more than one site?
Yes. The GPL lets you use it on as many of your own sites as you like.
What if the file does not work or a newer version is out?
Tell us on the Request Item page or through Support. We check the file and add the newer version when we have it.
