About this product

AffiliateWP Allow Own Referrals 1.2.1 is an add-on for affiliate programs where partners are meant to earn when they buy for themselves. By default, AffiliateWP refuses a commission when an affiliate orders through their own referral link or uses their own coupon code. That rule protects most programs from self-referrals, but it gets in the way of member discount programs, staff schemes and ambassador setups where buying through your own link is the whole idea.

What's in the AffiliateWP Allow Own Referrals download

Our download is the original AffiliateWP Allow Own Referrals ZIP for version 1.2.1. It holds this add-on only. AffiliateWP itself is a separate plugin and is not in this file. The advanced fraud checks the developer offers on the AffiliateWP Pro plan, such as PPC traffic and IP velocity detection, are part of AffiliateWP and are not in this file either.

Good to know

This version needs AffiliateWP 2.6 or newer, WordPress 5.2 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. Check your AffiliateWP version before you buy: from AffiliateWP 2.31.0 the developer built this option into AffiliateWP itself, as the Self-Referral Prevention setting under AffiliateWP, Settings, Anti-Fraud, and moved existing add-on users over automatically. The add-on is for sites still running an earlier AffiliateWP. It covers purchases made while the affiliate is logged in, too.

How to install AffiliateWP Allow Own Referrals

  1. Install and activate AffiliateWP first, and check its version under Plugins, Installed Plugins before you add this.
  2. Log in to GPLGuide, open this product and click Download under Your downloads.
  3. In WordPress go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. There is no settings screen: once active, affiliates earn on their own links and coupons. On AffiliateWP 2.31.0 or newer, set Self-Referral Prevention to Allow under AffiliateWP, Settings, Anti-Fraud instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the original file?

Yes. Every product on GPLGuide is the developer’s own release, unchanged. The license key comes already activated. If a product does ask for a key, the activation steps appear on its page once you have it.

Is it legal to use a GPL plugin or theme from GPLGuide?

Yes. WordPress plugins and themes are released under the GPL, which lets anyone use, share and change the code. The developer’s support desk and the developer’s own update service are not part of the file; those stay with the developer.

How do I install it?

Log in, open the product page and click Download under Your downloads. For a plugin go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, then Install Now and Activate. For a theme go to Appearance, Themes, Add New Theme, Upload Theme.

How do updates work?

When a newer version is listed on GPLGuide, download it from the product page and upload it over the installed copy; WordPress offers to replace the old version. Updates are manual.

Can I use it on more than one site?

Yes. The GPL lets you use it on as many of your own sites as you like.

What if the file does not work or a newer version is out?

Tell us on the Request Item page or through Support. We check the file and add the newer version when we have it.
