About this product

The Amino theme is a WordPress theme by Plaza-Themes for organic and food stores that sell through WooCommerce. It is built with Elementor and comes with four home page designs, banner sliders for featured and trending products, an Ajax product search, a wishlist and quick view. This page is for Amino 1.0.2, released on February 14, 2025. On GPLGuide you download the original theme file to install on your own websites.

Good for: organic grocers, farm shops, delis, health food stores, bakeries and other food sellers who want a fresh online shop with sliders, category sections and a store locator page.

Requirements: WordPress 6.7 is the newest version the developer lists as compatible, and its table starts at 5.0. WooCommerce 9 is the newest it lists, from a range that starts at 5.x. The item page gives no PHP version, but the changelog says PHP 8 compatibility was fixed in 1.0.2. The theme needs Elementor, and the shop needs the free WooCommerce plugin.

What the Amino theme does

Plaza-Themes designed the Amino theme for organic and food stores. The aim is a shop that looks the same on every device and browser, with a clean modern layout. The demo set has four home page designs, and the developer highlights banner sliders for featured and trending products and sections that show featured categories with thumbnails.

The options use the Redux framework, which gives unlimited colour choices and a Google Fonts selection. On top of that you can pick between several header types, a mega menu, boxed or full-width layouts, and a left, right or no sidebar. Unlimited custom sidebars are possible, sample background images are included, and social icon links and a 404 page are part of the package.

The blog comes in several layouts with post formats. The page set includes Contact, About and a Store Locator page. The Store Locator is a good fit for a food seller with more than one shop, a market stall or pick-up points.

The ThemeForest tags for the Amino theme include clean, modern, organic, food, online store and responsive. Those tags show the kind of shop the theme is aimed at. The theme is also marked high resolution and widget ready, so sidebars and footers accept the usual WordPress widgets.

Elementor and the home pages in the Amino theme

The Amino theme is an Elementor theme. The item page says it is built with Elementor and that Elementor Website Builder is supported for customizing the content. That means you edit your home page visually, section by section, instead of through a fixed template. The page lists the Elementor plugin among the extra plugins, and it is also named as compatible.

Besides Elementor, the page lists CMB2, the Kirki Customizer Framework, Essential Grid, Templatera, Mailchimp for WordPress and WPForms Lite as extra plugins. Wishlist and product compare are described as optional features. The page also says the theme is compatible with Contact Form 7, so you have a choice of form plugin: WPForms Lite is on the list, and Contact Form 7 is named as compatible.

Think of the four home page designs as starting points. A typical set-up puts a banner slider with your featured products at the top, a row of featured categories with thumbnails beneath it and a trending products carousel below that. You can then add your own story, a newsletter box and a link to the store locator.

Pages, blog and layout options in the Amino theme

The layout options are wide. You can pick boxed or full-width pages, set a left sidebar, a right sidebar or none, and create as many custom sidebars as you need, for example one for the shop and another for the blog. Several header types let you change the top of the page without touching the rest.

The blog has multiple layouts and post formats. Food sites often publish recipes, producer stories and seasonal news, and these layouts give such posts a home. Social icon links and an error 404 page are included, and sample background images come with the package.

On compatibility, the item page lists the browsers IE10, IE11, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome and Edge, along with Bootstrap 4.x and 5.x, the Events Calendar and Ecwid. The files listed for the theme are PHP, HTML, CSS and JS.

The shop side of the Amino theme

The WooCommerce list on the item page is long. It names wishlists and an Ajax cart, product quick view, product image zoom and a lightbox on the product page. Shoppers can filter by size, color and material, and the shop page switches between grid and list views. There are product carousels and a latest posts carousel for showing off new items and news.

The Ajax search is the standout. It shows results in a dropdown as people type, so a visitor can reach a product without a page reload. The page also names the Advanced Woo Search plugin as compatible if you want more control over search results.

For bigger plans the page names compatible plugins: YITH WooCommerce Wishlist and Compare, Dokan Multivendor Marketplace, WC Vendors, WooCommerce Currency Switcher and WPML. Ecwid is also listed in the compatibility table. These suit shops that sell in more than one currency or language, or that want several vendors on one site. Each of them is a separate plugin with its own settings.

Ways to set up the Amino theme

  • Organic grocery: use the banner slider for seasonal boxes, featured categories for fruit, vegetables and dairy, and the Ajax search for quick lookups.
  • Farm shop with pick-up: fill the Store Locator page with your pick-up points and add a Contact page with opening hours.
  • Specialty food seller: use filters by size, color and material only where they fit your products, such as pack size.
  • Marketplace: pair the theme with Dokan or WC Vendors, which the item page names as compatible.
  • Two-language shop: add WPML, which the item page lists as supported.
  • Newsletter: connect Mailchimp for WordPress, which the item page lists as an extra plugin, to a sign-up box near the footer.
  • Contact form: WPForms Lite is on the plugin list and Contact Form 7 is named as compatible, so use either for orders by enquiry.
  • Blog with recipes: use the blog layouts and post formats for recipes, producer stories and news.

Start with one home design and a small catalogue. Check the Ajax search, the cart and the quick view on a phone before you add the rest of your products.

What's new in the Amino theme 1.0.2

Amino 1.0.2 came out on February 14, 2025. It fixed PHP 8 compatibility and updated the theme for the latest WooCommerce and WordPress at that time. It is a maintenance release, so there are no new layouts in it.

The only earlier entry on the item page is version 1.0.1, dated April 20, 2023. It fixed image zoom and the testimonials feature and updated the theme for WooCommerce 7.x. The changelog is short, so there is little else to report. The item page's details table shows a last update of February 15, 2025, a day after the 1.0.2 entry.

Good to know before you buy

The item page tags the Amino theme as well documented but links no documentation page, and the author website has no guide. This page therefore repeats what the item page and changelog say, and we could not read a setup guide. The item page does not say whether a one-click demo import exists. It says sample content is included to help you build a site that looks like the demo.

The extra plugins include Elementor, CMB2, Kirki, Essential Grid, Templatera, Mailchimp for WordPress and WPForms Lite. Essential Grid and Templatera are commercial plugins that we do not sell, so if the theme cannot install them for you, they have to come from you. WooCommerce is not listed as bundled, but the shop needs it. The item page marks the theme as not Gutenberg optimized.

Plaza-Themes also sells an Amino theme for OpenCart on ThemeForest. That is a different product. This page is only about the WordPress and WooCommerce theme.

Support from the developer comes with the Regular licence for six months. It is the developer's service, so GPLGuide cannot pass it on.

Amino from GPLGuide vs the official subscription

The Amino theme is sold by Plaza-Themes on ThemeForest. The Regular licence costs $38 there and includes future updates through the marketplace and six months of item support from the developer, which can be extended to 12 months. Under Envato's licence for this item, its PHP code is licensed under the GPL.

From GPLGuide you get the original Amino theme file. The file from GPLGuide comes with the license key already activated, so there is no key to enter. The layouts, shop tools and options work as in the developer's package.

What only the developer provides is the support desk, refunds under Envato's rules and updates through your own Envato account. If you want Plaza-Themes to help with a setup problem, buy the licence on ThemeForest.

How to install the Amino theme

  1. Sign in to GPLGuide, open My Account, Downloads and save the Amino theme ZIP.
  2. In WordPress go to Appearance, Themes, Add New Theme, Upload Theme and choose the ZIP, then click Install Now.
  3. Activate the theme and install WooCommerce and Elementor.
  4. Add the other plugins you want, such as Mailchimp for WordPress, then build your pages in Elementor.
How to install the Amino theme on WordPress in four steps
Installing the Amino theme and getting the shop ready.

For a good first setup, install the theme on a test site, add WooCommerce and a few products, and open the home page in Elementor to see how a design is put together. Because the item page links no setup guide, change one thing at a time. Currency, shipping and payment settings belong to WooCommerce, so set them up there first, and only then judge how the cart and checkout look. Once the shop works, replace the demo texts with your own product names, add clear photos and write short descriptions.

Keeping it up to date

Updates from GPLGuide are manual. When a new version of the Amino theme is listed here, download it from your account and upload it under Appearance, Themes, Add New Theme, Upload Theme. WordPress offers to replace the installed copy, and your products, pages and settings stay in the database. If you see a newer version that we have not added, tell us on the Request Item/Update page.
