About this product

Astero WordPress Weather Plugin 2.1.0 shows the current weather and a forecast on your site, through a widget or a shortcode. It is made for travel blogs, hotels, local business sites and event pages, or any site where visitors want the weather for one fixed place or for wherever they are right now. Forecasts come from OpenWeatherMap, load in the background and are cached on your site, so your pages do not call the weather service on every visit.

What's in the Astero WordPress Weather Plugin download

Our download is the original Astero WordPress Weather Plugin ZIP for version 2.1.0, with the license key already activated. The plugin comes with a builder for weather displays in the dashboard, a widget, a shortcode, and translation files (.po and .mo) for the interface. The weather data itself is not part of the file, because it comes from your own OpenWeatherMap account.

Good to know

This version adds support for WordPress 6.6 and PHP 8.x, and the developer lists compatibility from WordPress 4.9. You must enter an OpenWeatherMap API key under Settings, Astero Weather before anything loads, and a brand new key can take a few hours to start working. Five days of forecast show by default. Seven days need an OpenWeatherMap One Call 3.0 subscription, switched on in the Astero settings.

How to install Astero WordPress Weather Plugin

  1. Log in to GPLGuide, open this product and click Download under Your downloads.
  2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin and choose the ZIP file you downloaded, then click Install Now.
  3. When the upload finishes, click Activate so the Astero Weather entries appear in your dashboard.
  4. Go to Settings, Astero Weather and paste in your OpenWeatherMap API key. If the key is new, give it a few hours before you expect weather to load.
  5. Open Astero Weather, Add New Weather in the dashboard menu, build your first display, then place it on a page with its shortcode or as a widget.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the original file?

Yes. Every product on GPLGuide is the developer’s own release, unchanged. The license key comes already activated. If a product does ask for a key, the activation steps appear on its page once you have it.

Is it legal to use a GPL plugin or theme from GPLGuide?

Yes. WordPress plugins and themes are released under the GPL, which lets anyone use, share and change the code. The developer’s support desk and the developer’s own update service are not part of the file; those stay with the developer.

How do I install it?

Log in, open the product page and click Download under Your downloads. For a plugin go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, then Install Now and Activate. For a theme go to Appearance, Themes, Add New Theme, Upload Theme.

How do updates work?

When a newer version is listed on GPLGuide, download it from the product page and upload it over the installed copy; WordPress offers to replace the old version. Updates are manual.

Can I use it on more than one site?

Yes. The GPL lets you use it on as many of your own sites as you like.

What if the file does not work or a newer version is out?

Tell us on the Request Item page or through Support. We check the file and add the newer version when we have it.
