About this product

Awesome Gallery 2.2.3 is a WordPress plugin that shows photo galleries from Instagram, Flickr and Facebook on your own pages. It is made for sites that already keep their pictures on those networks and want them displayed as a gallery on the site, instead of downloading and uploading every image a second time. You build the gallery in the admin, compare it in the preview, and then publish it where visitors will see it.

What's in the Awesome Gallery download

Our download is the original Awesome Gallery ZIP for version 2.2.3, with the license key already activated. The plugin builds the galleries itself. For large image sets the developer points to the free NEXTGEN Image gallery plugin, which is a separate plugin you install on your own site and is not part of this file.

Good to know

The developer's support notes name a few catches. An Instagram gallery that shows only 20 images, or nothing for a tag, usually means the Instagram app has not been approved to leave sandbox mode. Sets of 100 or more images should go through the NEXTGEN Image gallery plugin. If a gallery breaks after an upgrade, switch off caching or minify plugins such as W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache or BWP Minify, check the gallery, then flush every cache.

How to install Awesome Gallery

  1. Log in to GPLGuide, open this product and click Download under Your downloads.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, click Upload Plugin and choose the Awesome Gallery ZIP from your computer.
  3. Click Install Now, then click Activate Plugin once the upload has finished.
  4. Optional: if you plan to show 100 or more images, install and activate the free NEXTGEN Image gallery plugin under Plugins, Add New Plugin.
  5. Open the Awesome Gallery screens in the admin. The global configuration holds general options such as Use shortcode hack, and the NEXTGEN settings tab is where NEXTGEN images are chosen.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the original file?

Yes. Every product on GPLGuide is the developer’s own release, unchanged. The license key comes already activated. If a product does ask for a key, the activation steps appear on its page once you have it.

Is it legal to use a GPL plugin or theme from GPLGuide?

Yes. WordPress plugins and themes are released under the GPL, which lets anyone use, share and change the code. The developer’s support desk and the developer’s own update service are not part of the file; those stay with the developer.

How do I install it?

Log in, open the product page and click Download under Your downloads. For a plugin go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, then Install Now and Activate. For a theme go to Appearance, Themes, Add New Theme, Upload Theme.

How do updates work?

When a newer version is listed on GPLGuide, download it from the product page and upload it over the installed copy; WordPress offers to replace the old version. Updates are manual.

Can I use it on more than one site?

Yes. The GPL lets you use it on as many of your own sites as you like.

What if the file does not work or a newer version is out?

Tell us on the Request Item page or through Support. We check the file and add the newer version when we have it.
