About this product
MailPoet Free 5.43.0 is the free edition of MailPoet, an email newsletter plugin that works inside your WordPress dashboard. It is made for bloggers, small business sites and WooCommerce shops that want to collect subscribers, send newsletters and tell readers about new posts without running a separate email platform. You manage your lists and subscribers in WordPress itself, next to your posts and orders. Shop owners can send purchase and abandoned cart emails from the same screens they use for the newsletter, so one plugin covers both jobs.
What's in the MailPoet Free download
Our download is the original MailPoet ZIP for version 5.43.0, the free edition as the developer publishes it. It covers the email designer, signup forms, post notifications, welcome emails, the core WooCommerce emails and basic open and click stats. MailPoet Premium is a separate product: it adds detailed engagement stats, multi-condition segments, custom automation triggers with if/else branches, Google Analytics tracking, re-engagement and review follow-up emails for shops, and emails without the MailPoet branding.
Good to know
This version needs WordPress 7.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer, with the XML and ZIP PHP extensions active and a writable uploads directory. It does not run on Microsoft IIS, and WooCommerce is only needed for the shop emails. By default MailPoet sends through your own host, which the developer advises against, so pick a better method under MailPoet, Settings, Send With. From this version, campaigns on sites with more than 200 subscribers are paused before sending when the From address is not on an authenticated domain.
How to install MailPoet Free
- Log in to GPLGuide, open this product and click Download under Your downloads.
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin and choose the MailPoet ZIP you just downloaded.
- Click Install Now, wait for the upload to finish, then click Activate Plugin.
- Click MailPoet in the admin sidebar to open the welcome wizard, fill in your sender name and address, and click through its screens.
- After the wizard, your emails, forms, subscribers and lists sit under the MailPoet menu, and the sending method is under MailPoet, Settings, Send With.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the original file?
Yes. Every product on GPLGuide is the developer’s own release, unchanged. The license key comes already activated. If a product does ask for a key, the activation steps appear on its page once you have it.
Is it legal to use a GPL plugin or theme from GPLGuide?
Yes. WordPress plugins and themes are released under the GPL, which lets anyone use, share and change the code. The developer’s support desk and the developer’s own update service are not part of the file; those stay with the developer.
How do I install it?
Log in, open the product page and click Download under Your downloads. For a plugin go to Plugins, Add New Plugin, Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, then Install Now and Activate. For a theme go to Appearance, Themes, Add New Theme, Upload Theme.
How do updates work?
When a newer version is listed on GPLGuide, download it from the product page and upload it over the installed copy; WordPress offers to replace the old version. Updates are manual.
Can I use it on more than one site?
Yes. The GPL lets you use it on as many of your own sites as you like.
