About this product

The Onova theme is a WordPress theme for IT solutions and services companies, made by Case-Themes and sold on ThemeForest. It is built on the WPBakery page builder and offers three homepage layouts and three header layouts, with the demo adding one-page versions and a landing page. This page is for Onova version 1.1.1. The developer does not publish a dated changelog for each version, so we do not give a release date. On GPLGuide you download the original theme file to install on your own websites.

Good for: software agencies, IT consultancies, startups that sell a technology product, and small service firms that need a clear homepage, a portfolio of projects and a quote request form. The listing tags it for IT services, solutions, technology, SEO services, startups and agencies, and also for corporate and multipurpose use.

Requirements: WordPress 5.0 up to 7.0 and, for a shop, WooCommerce 5 up to 9, as listed on the item page. The developer's documentation names PHP 7 or newer for WordPress and PHP 5.6 for the theme, so use PHP 7 or newer. It also lists MySQL 5.6, memory_limit 256 MB, upload and post limits of 64 MB, max_execution_time 900 and max_input_vars of at least 4000. WPBakery Page Builder and Revolution Slider are listed as included.

What the Onova theme does

The Onova theme packages the pages a technology business usually needs: a homepage, service pages, a company section, a portfolio, news and a shop. You choose a starting design, import it, then change the text and pictures. The item page lists a modern design with CSS3 animations, carousels, parallax and section video backgrounds, plus a sticky header and sticky menu.

Customising is done in two places. The theme options and the real-time Customizer control the look: unlimited colors, Google Fonts, Font Awesome icons and layout choices. WPBakery Page Builder controls page content, so you edit sections visually instead of writing code. Contact Form 7, Google Maps, WPML and right-to-left languages are all in the feature list.

The listing marks the Onova theme as not optimised for the Gutenberg editor, and Elementor is not part of it. That matters if your team already works in blocks. If you are comfortable with WPBakery, nothing else is needed to start.

IT Solutions, IT Business and IT Startup homepages

The live demo menu lists three home styles: IT Solutions, IT Business and IT Startup. Each has a One Page version, where the menu scrolls to sections on a single page, and there is also a separate Landing Page. The item page lists three header layouts, and the demo lets you open each home style in turn, so look at all three before choosing.

The main demo homepage opens with a slider whose sample headline is about solving business challenges with technology, then an About block, an intro video, a Services block, a Why Choose Us list, a case study grid, a Get In Touch form with a quote button, a team section and news. The sample services are Product Engineering, UI/UX Strategy and Big Data and Analytics.

The demo text contains made-up claims, for example a figure about how many people are happy with the company. Replace these with real facts before you launch, because visitors will read them as yours.

Portfolio and blog layouts in the Onova theme

The Company menu in the demo covers About Us, IT Services, IT Consultancy, Our Team, Our History and FAQs. That is a useful set for a firm that wants to explain what it does at three levels: the story, the services and the people.

The portfolio is where the Onova theme gives you the most choice. The demo shows portfolio grids with two, three, four or five columns, three grid styles and a Portfolio Details page. Pick two or three columns for a few large projects, and four or five for a long list of small ones. The news section offers a blog carousel, grids, a masonry layout and standard layouts with a left, right or no sidebar, plus Standard, Video, Gallery, Audio and Quote post formats.

Importing the Onova theme demo and setting up plugins

Choose between the one-click importer and a manual import. The manual route has five parts. Upload attachment-data.xml and content-data.xml under Tools, Import. Open Onova, Theme Options, Import/Export and import options.json and settings.json, either from a file or by pasting. Add the Widget Importer and Exporter plugin and upload widgets.wie. Finally import the sliders from demo-slider.zip inside Slider Revolution.

The documentation recommends Revolution Slider, WooCommerce, the Newsletter plugin and Contact Form 7, and it calls the page builder Visual Composer, while the item page names WPBakery Page Builder. For a multilingual site it suggests Loco Translate with a child theme, and for search visibility it recommends Yoast SEO and an image compressor such as Smush. None of these are needed for the theme to run, but several are needed for the demo to look complete.

After the import, build your menu under Appearance, Menus. Create a menu, add pages, drag an item to the right to nest it as a sub-item, then tick a theme location such as Primary and save. If you plan to translate the Onova theme, copy its languages folder into a child theme, name your files with the language code, for example de_DE.po with a compiled .mo file, and set the site language under Settings, General. The documentation says to use the .po file for working translations, not the .pot template.

For search, the Onova theme uses H1 to H6 headings and HTML5, but the documentation still suggests an SEO plugin. Keep one H1 per page, write a clear title for each service, and compress your portfolio images, since a five-column grid loads many thumbnails at once.

Setups you can copy with the Onova theme

  • Software agency: start from IT Business, use a four-column portfolio grid for client work, and keep the quote form as the main call to action.
  • Technology startup: use the IT Startup home with its One Page version, and drop the shop and blog if you do not need them.
  • IT consultancy: use the IT Consultancy and Our History pages to tell the firm's story, with a FAQ page for common client questions.
  • Freelance developer: use a one-page home, a three-column portfolio and a single Contact Form 7 form.
  • Local IT shop: add WooCommerce so customers can buy small items or support plans online.

Whichever you pick, change the sample hero headline and the Get A Quote wording first. They set the tone for the whole Onova theme site, and visitors see them before anything else.

What's new in the Onova theme 1.1.1

This download is Onova version 1.1.1. Case-Themes does not publish a version-by-version changelog on its ThemeForest page. The documentation points to a Change_Log.txt file in the full package and to the sale page, and we could not read dated entries in either place. We cannot say what changed in 1.1.1 or when it came out.

The item page shows a last update on September 7, 2026 and lists compatibility with WordPress up to 7.0 and WooCommerce up to 9. We have not confirmed whether a newer version than 1.1.1 exists.

Good to know before you buy

The ThemeForest page says the Onova theme was created about seven years ago and shows a recent update, so treat it as an established theme with older documentation. The documentation is dated. Its footer reads 2019, and some steps describe plugin names that have since changed. WordPress screens may also look different from the screenshots, but the tasks remain the same.

WPBakery Page Builder and Revolution Slider are paid plugins that the listing says are included. We do not sell them separately, so if your copy lacks one, you must add it yourself. Case-Themes states that plugin updates come with theme updates.

Demo pictures are not supplied, because the developer's terms say placeholders replace the original demo images. The Onova theme has three homepage layouts, fewer than some multipurpose themes, so check that one of them fits you. Help with your own setup comes only from the developer.

Onova theme from GPLGuide vs the official subscription

Case-Themes states that its WordPress themes are licensed under the GNU GPL. The Onova theme is sold by Case-Themes on ThemeForest, where a Regular license costs $49. That includes six months of item support, and you can extend support to twelve months for $13.88. Buying there also means new versions come through your marketplace download page.

From GPLGuide you receive the same original theme file, with the same layouts, options and demo importer. The file from GPLGuide comes with the license key already activated, so there is no key to enter. The developer's item support and refunds come only from the developer. If you mainly need the theme itself, this copy is the lower-cost route, alone or inside a membership.

How to install the Onova theme on WordPress in four steps
Installing the Onova theme and importing your first demo.

For a good first setup, import one demo only, not several. Then open Settings, Permalinks and save once, set your logo and colors in the Customizer, and fix the menu under Appearance, Menus. Raise your PHP limits before importing, as the documentation asks, so the import does not time out.

Keeping it up to date

Updates from GPLGuide are manual. When a new version of the Onova theme is listed here, download it from your account and upload it under Appearance, Themes, Add New, Upload Theme. WordPress offers to replace the installed copy. The developer's documentation says to back up your data first. If you see a newer version that we have not added, tell us on the Request Item/Update page.
